Lancaster School District Health Centers Offer Extended Hours For Children Receiving COVID-19 Vaccine

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health begins giving children ages 5 to 11 the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for extended hours at Family Medicine Downtown locations in Carter & MacRae Elementary, George Washington Elementary and JP McCaskey High School for neighborhood students.

Appointments are required and a parent / guardian must be with the child to be vaccinated, which is free for those who wish. Here’s how to plan:

Even though they are not patients of Family Medicine Downtown, students in the Lancaster School District are encouraged to be seen by their medical providers at any time during the school day. Health centers offer sickness and wellness visits, physical exams, vaccines and tests.

This collaboration between Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health and SDoL is helping students access enough medical care to keep them in class. They provide injections, education, and resources to keep them healthy during the school year.
