San Joaquin Valley United Health Centers Provide Data Event Notice

FRESNO, California, November 19, 2021 / PRNewswire / – United Health Centers of San Joaquin Valley (“UHC”) educates individuals about an incident that may affect the confidentiality of certain information, so that potentially affected individuals can take action to protect their information, if they deem it appropriate.

At August 28, 2021, UHC has experienced technical difficulties causing some computer systems to be interrupted. UHC quickly took action to secure its systems and opened an investigation into the nature and extent of the incident. UHC’s investigation determined that the disruption was caused by an encryption event. UHC worked quickly to restore its systems from available backups to avoid disruption in patient care.

UHC discovered on September 22, 2021 that some UHC-related data had been posted on a non-indexed website. UHC is currently working diligently, with the assistance of third-party subject matter experts, to confirm the type and scope of the information involved. This effort is currently underway. At present, it appears that information stored on UHC systems that may have been affected includes, primarily, demographic and clinical information such as names, addresses, dates of birth, social security numbers, diagnosis. , supplier and drug information.

Once UHC completes its investigation, which includes a detailed review of potentially impacted data to determine the types of information involved and to whom it relates, UHC will provide written notice directly to those affected.

UHC takes this incident and the security of the information under its control very seriously. As part of its continued commitment to the confidentiality of information in its custody, UHC has implemented additional technical security measures and is reviewing and improving existing policies and procedures.
