Nevada Health Centers Mammovan Offering Mammogram Screenings Thursday in Dayton | Carson City Nevada News

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Early detection is essential in the fight against breast cancer, which is why access to screenings is of crucial importance.

To accommodate women who need mammograms, Nevada health centers continually criss-cross the state and make community stops. The Mammovan will visit Northern Nevada starting this week at the following locations:

– Tuesday, Oct. 4, 7:40 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., Reno-Sparks Indian Settlement Tribal Health Clinic, 1715 Kuenzli Street; Reno

— Wednesday, October 5, from 12 p.m. to 5:20 p.m., O’Brien Middle School, 10500 Stead Blvd.; Reno

Thursday, October 6, 7:40 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., Mark Twain Community Center, 500 Sam Clemens Ave., Dayton

— Monday, October 24, 7:40 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., Moana Nursery, 1100 W. Moana Lane; Reno

Tuesday, Oct. 25, 7:40 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., Sierra Nevada Health Center, 3325 Research Way; Town of Carson

— Wednesday, October 26, 7:40 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., St. Peter Canisius, 225 E. 5th Ave. ; Valley of the Sun

– Thursday, Oct. 27, 7:40 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., Northern Nevada HOPES, 580 W. 5th St.; Reno

Mammography screenings are primarily for women 40 and older; however, screenings are offered to people under 40 who have a screening referral from a provider. COVID precautions are in place.

NVHC’s mission is to provide access to quality healthcare services throughout Nevada. Screenings are offered to all women, regardless of their economic status. We accept most major insurance plans, Medicaid and Medicare and offer a sliding fee scale for those who are uninsured.

Nevada Health Centers (NVHC) operates the Mammovan, a mobile mammography van that provides women with convenient access to mammography services. The Mammovan began operations in 2000 and was initially made possible by a grant secured by former Congressman John Ensign and former First Lady of Nevada Dema Guinn.
